Scene 2 (in the forest)

The wood was a favorite meeting-place of those little beings known by the name of fairies.     这个树林是精灵最喜欢的聚会地点

（音乐起）

Oberon:  Bring me the flowers that girls call "wasted love" Once the little flower is put in front of their nose, when they wake up, they will fall in love with the person they see at the first sight.    替我把少女们称做``枉费之爱``的花拿来，一旦将那紫色小花放在他们的鼻前，当他们醒来时，便会疯狂的爱上所看到的第一个人。

Puck: Yes,my lord.  (下)

Oberon: But who's here? They can't see me. Let me hear what they say.

可是谁到这儿来啦？他们看不见我，让我听一听他们说些什么。

（Demetrious和 Helena 上 场）

Demetrious: I don't love you, so don't follow me. Where are Lysander and the beautiful Hermia? You tell me they're here, but I can't 

find my Hermia. Come on, don't follow me.      我不爱你，所以别跟著我，莱赛德和美丽的荷米亚在那儿？你告诉我，他们在这里，但是我找不到我的荷米亚。快走，不许再跟著我。

Helena: You attract   [əˈtrækt]  me, you hard-hearted person.

是你吸引我的，你这硬心肠的人。

Demetrious: Do I speak you fair?  I do not, and I cannot love you.

   我曾经向你说过好话吗?告诉你，我不爱你，而且也不会爱你。

Helena: And even for that do I love you the more. Please let me follow you even I am like your dog.     即使这样，也只是使我更爱你。请让我跟著你,那怕我像是你的狗。

Demetrious: I am sick when I do look on you!        我一看见你就头痛。

Helena: And I am sick when I look not on you.          可是我看不到你就心痛。

Demetrious: Let me go. Cause I so hate you! (下)    让我走，因为我是这麼的讨厌你。

Helena: Don’t leave me alone. Please stay, though you kill me. (下)    不要离开我，请留下吧，就算你杀了我。

Oberon: The poor girl! I have to help her. Welcome, wanderer  [ˈwɒndərə(r)]  , has you get the flower? (Puck上)   可怜的女孩，我得帮她。欢迎啊，流浪者，你把花采来了吗？

Puck: Ay, there it is.    是的，就在这儿。

Oberon: Thank you, my lovely fairy. Take away some flowers. Here is a sweet girl who falls in love with the cold young man. If you find him asleep, put the purple flowers in front of his nose, but make sure he wakes up to see the girl. You can recognize       [ˈrekəɡnaɪz]   him in his Athenian  [əˈθiːnjən] dress.

   谢谢，我可爱的精灵，拿走一些花，这里有一位甜美的少女爱上了冷酷的年轻人。如果你发现他睡著了，就把爱情的汁液滴进他的眼睛里，但是，一定要确定他醒来时就看到那少女。你可以由他穿的雅典服饰认出他。

Puck: Don’t worry, my lord, your servant shall do so.   (两人同下)   放心吧，主人，一切将如你所愿。

                         Scene three (another part of the forest)

Lysander: Fair love, you faint   [feɪnt]   with wandering  [ˈwɒndərɪŋ]  in the wood; if you think it good,let's take a break.

   好人，你在树林中跋涉著，累得快要昏倒了，要是你同意，让我们休息一下吧。

Hermia: Go ahead  [əˈhed] , Lysander. Good night, sweet lover.      

就照你的意思吧，莱赛德。晚安，爱人。

Lysander: Good night.

（微笑）    （脱衣为她盖上在椅上睡）     （Puck上 ）

Puck: Ah, who's here? This is the cruel  [ˈkruːəl]  young man, and she is the girl. Beautiful people, she dare not sleep near this heartless evil  [ˈiːvl]  man. Bad guy, I'll put flowers in front of your nose. Hey, it's fun.(下)  谁在这儿？这是那残酷的年轻人，而她是那个女孩。美丽人儿，她竟然不敢睡近这没心肝的。坏东西，我将在你的鼻前放上花，嘿，真有趣。

怪声起，Hermia叫L不醒，独自循声离去     （Helena上）  

Helena: I am out of breath in the fond  [fɒnd]  chase!  Who is lying on the ground? Oh! He is Lysander! Is he dead or asleep? Good sir, if you are alive  [əˈlaɪv]  , awake.

      这痴心的追赶使我累得喘不过气来.是谁躺在地上?喔，是莱赛德，他是死了还是睡著了?好先生，如果你还活著，就醒醒吧。

Lysander: What a pretty beauty!  Helena, I would go through fire for your sweet sake.……   我愿为你赴汤蹈火。

Helena: Do not say so, Lysander. Don’t you love Hermia?     别这么说，莱赛德。你不爱荷米亚吗？

Lysander: I don’t love her at all. For me, she is just a black raven  [ˈreɪvn]  , and you are a white dove. [dʌv]  我一点也不爱她，对我而言，她只是只乌鸦而你是只白鸽。

Helena: Oh! Why was I born to be mocked  [mɒkt]  and thought nothing of by everyone? Is it not enough, young man? That a lady, of one man refused, should of another be so abused  [əˈbjuːzd]  ！(下)    为什么我生下来就被每个人嘲笑，而不被尊重？年轻人，这还不够吗？一个女子被一个男人拒绝，还得忍受另一个男人的揶揄。

Lysander: Helena,my love……             (Hermia醒） 

Hermia: Lysander! Lysander! Where do you go? No sound? No word! If you hear me, please talk to me! I faint almost with fear. But, where do you go?

      莱赛德！莱赛德！你去那儿了？没有回音，不说一句话？如果你听得到，请回答我，我快因害怕而昏倒了，但你去那儿了?         （Demetrious上 ）

Demetrious: you are here, my dear Hermia! I found you for a long time.

      你在这里，我亲爱的荷米亚，我找你找了好久。

Hermia: Do you see my Lysander?     你看见我的莱赛德了吗?

Demetrious: who care? I would like his being my dog's food.   谁在乎？我希望他是我狗的食物。

Hermia: Out,you dog! Did you really kill him? You are a devil  [ˈdevl]  ! Lysander,I'm sure I will find you!      滚开，恶狗！你真的杀了他吗？你这个恶魔！

Demetrious: A joke，She is so angry. I’d better stop following her. I have to take a rest. I'm too tired tonight! (睡)  她是如此生气，我最好停止跟随她。我必须休息一下，今晚实在太累了。              （Oberon和Puck 上 ）

Oberon: Did you finish your work, Puck?          派克，你的工作做完了吗?

Puck: Sure, I did. And the woman is by his side: when he waked, of course she must be seen.      是的，而且那女人就在他的身边，当然，在他醒来时，她会被发现。   

Oberon: Hey! He is there! What did you do? Why does the cruel man still sleep here? You must have made a mistake!  嘿！他在那儿，你到底做了什么？为什么那个冷酷的年轻人还睡在那儿？你一定是弄错了。

Puck: Did I? Oh, I’m sorry.     是吗？喔，对不起。

Oberon: It’s ok，now you can finish it. Just be careful, do not make a mistake again.没关系，现在你可以完成这件事。要小心一点，不要再犯错了。

Puck重新放上花朵
